Everybody should read this book.Honestly.It's only 64 pages long, so you can read through it in under an hour - and everyone should take that time to read and remember what is written in this important book.I wanted to take a picture of nearly every sentence in this book and post it on Instagram - show it to the world.I am in deep awe of Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, the author, because she has created one of the most important works in my opinion.If everyone would read this small book, the world would be a better place.It is not only incredibly important but also very well written. One can read through it quite nicely and easily but the words are chosen so perfectly that you won't forget them too fast.Because Adichie's writing style appealed so much to me, I am very excited to read more books from her.I really enjoyed that the author talked so much about her Nigerian experience since a great friend of mine comes from Nigeria aswell. It was very interesting to read about Nigerian ways and its culture.I definitely want to reread this from time to time because it's not only a great reminder of why Feminism is so important but it's also a huge empowerement for Activism against injustices in general.I loved how clear and direct this book was. There was never anything left unclear but everything was written so sharply and unmistakably.CONCLUSIONEveryone should be forced to read this book.It already feels like a must-read and a true classic.Nearly every sentence should be displayed everywhere.I want to applaud the author for writing such an important and great book.
Ein kleiner Text fasst zusammen, was man über Frauen und Feminismus so denken und sagen kann. Falls man mal ein Zitat hierzu braucht: das wäre eine tolle Quelle dafür! Neu ist das Gesagte - zumindest aus Sicht einer Frau in Mitteleuropa - eher nicht, bis auf den afrikanischen Fokus, den die Autorin hat, aber es ist trotzdem anregend, es noch einmal so ansprechend und anschaulich präsentiert zu bekommen. Frau Adichie hat eine ausgezeichnete Art zu schreiben!
Das Essay von Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie ist sehr kurz und einfach geschrieben. Ich hatte am Anfang etwas mehr erwartet und war etwas verwundert, als das kleine und dünne Büchlein ankam. Ihre Gedanken sind dennoch eindrucksvoll, wenn auch auf den Afrikanischen Lebensstil geprägt, aber sehr klar und struktuiert aufgeschrieben. Oftmals habe ich mich selbst darin erkannt. Das Heft ist vielleicht etwas teuer, verglichen damit, dass es sehr kurz und sehr klein ist. Ihr Gedanken sind definitiv nicht neu und sie erklärt sich eher, warum sie sich als feministin sieht. Generell ist es optimistisch geschrieben und als Geschenk sehr schön.
As an additional lecture for my Gender Studies Course I read this speech of Chimanda Ngozi Adichie. She's one of the most brilliant feminist acitivist of our time. She's such a strong voice especially for black women and you can find so much truth in her words.Words of a powerful, intelligent and honest person - more than worth reading it!
Ich bin der festen Überzeugung, dass jeder dieses Buch lesen sollte! Kurz und prägnant wird auf die aktuelle Problematik der patriarchal geprägten Gesellschaft eingegangen - und warum wir den Feminismus brauchen.
Das Buch von Adichie ist toll. Es umfasst eine kleine Sammlung an feministischen Reden, toll für Zwischendurch, wenn man nicht viel Platz für ein dickes Buch hat. Hat mir viel Freude gemacht, zu lesen.
A must read book for every human. Realistic and practical. I was unaware of so many things happening around me. Or I didn't recognize them so. It kind of changed my life and my point of views about the things I see in everyday life and experience. Please do read it.
Sollte jeder Mal gelesen haben, und da es wirklich ein ganz dünnes Buch ist, eignet es sich auch super als kleines Geschenk für Mann und Frau.
